Overview

AWS's cloud-credit program for startups, with two tiers. Activate Founders is for self-funded or bootstrapped startups with no accelerator affiliation, starting with an initial $1,000 in credits and expandable up to $5,000 for select participants. Activate Portfolio is for startups affiliated with an AWS Activate Provider (a VC, accelerator, or incubator), offering up to $200,000 in credits, requiring pre-Series B stage and an Organization ID from the Activate Provider. AI startups ready to scale may access additional, invitation-only credits redeemable on third-party models via Amazon Bedrock.

Eligibility

  • Activate Founders: self-funded or bootstrapped startup, no Activate Provider affiliation required
  • Activate Portfolio: affiliated with an AWS Activate Provider, pre-Series B stage, founded within the last 10 years

Funding Purpose

AWS cloud credits (Founders tier up to $5,000; Portfolio tier up to $200,000), plus go-to-market and technical resources.

Application Process

Create an AWS Builder ID with a professional email, select a tier based on funding status, provide startup and product details, link an AWS account, and submit. Portfolio applicants must supply the Organization ID from their Activate Provider. Approval typically takes 5-10 business days.
