Overview

Community Grants under Operational Phase 8 (OP8) of the GEF Small Grants Programme (SGP) India empower communities and civil society organizations to protect the environment while improving livelihoods. The programme is jointly implemented by the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, the United Nations Development Programme, and The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI) as the National Host Institution, using a landscape-based approach focused on the Aravallis, Western Ghats, Coastal areas, North-East, and Himalayas.

Eligibility

  • Applicant must be a Non-Governmental Organisation, Community-Based Organisation, or Civil Society Organisation in India
  • One organization is eligible to apply for only one community grant
  • Programme prioritizes projects benefiting women, youth, and Indigenous communities

Funding Purpose

Grants of up to US$75,000 fund community-driven, innovative and inclusive projects that generate local and global environmental benefits, addressing thematic areas such as biodiversity conservation, climate change, land degradation, urban solutions, and chemical and waste management.

Application Process

Submit proposal per RFP using the official template to the National Steering Committee via TERI.
