DST Incubation Fund (via TREC-STEP)

Overview

The DST-NIDHI Seed Support System (NIDHI-SSS) is a Department of Science and Technology scheme that channels seed funding to early-stage startups through operational Science and Technology Entrepreneurs Parks/Technology Business Incubators such as TREC-STEP, which is itself promoted by DST, the Government of Tamil Nadu, IDBI, IFCI, and NIT Trichy. The scheme provides early-stage financing to help incubated startups commercialize indigenous ideas, innovations, and technologies.

Eligibility

  • Incubatee must be a registered company in India with a minimum of three months' residency at the STEP/TBI
  • Must be an Indian startup; not meant for Indian subsidiaries of MNCs or foreign companies
  • Shareholding by Indian promoters in the incubated startup should be at least 51%

Funding Purpose

Seed support is intended as early-stage financing for commercializing indigenous ideas, innovations, and technologies incubated at TREC-STEP, normally amounting to about Rs 25 lakh per startup, with the ceiling raised to as much as Rs 100 lakh for exceptionally deserving cases.
