Overview

DST NIDHI-PRAYAS at CIE, IIIT Hyderabad is a Department of Science and Technology NIDHI Centre that supports innovators with a prototyping grant plus access to the CIE PC Fab Lab, to help develop a proof of concept or ready product. It aims to translate innovative ideas into working prototypes, enable rapid experimentation and iteration, and build a pipeline of ideas that leads toward startup creation.

Eligibility

  • Applicant must be an Indian citizen with valid ID (passport, voter ID, etc.)
  • Must be at least 18 years old at the time of application
  • Open to individual innovators or organized teams
  • Startup founders: company must be less than 7 years old from incorporation, with annual turnover not exceeding Rs 25 lakh
  • Employed researchers or students require an organizational No Objection Certificate confirming IP ownership and time allocation for the project

Funding Purpose

The program provides a prototyping grant upon selection, along with access to Fab Lab facilities (3D printers, cutting machines, welding equipment, electrical labs), meant specifically to fund and enable the physical development of a proof of concept or ready product from an idea.

Application Process

Verify eligibility via the official portal, then submit an application via the provided Google Form link. This is followed by a screening phase, interview-based shortlisting, and finally selection and onboarding into the program. Queries can be directed to nirupa.vijaykumar@cie.iiit.ac.in.
