Overview
ECGC Limited (Export Credit Guarantee Corporation of India) is a Government of India enterprise that provides export credit insurance and guarantee cover to Indian exporters, banks, and financial institutions to protect against payment risks in international trade. ECGC offers products ranging from general export credit insurance policies to specific shipment covers and overseas receivable insurance, and runs the NIRVIK (Niryat Rin Vikas Yojana) scheme introduced in 2019 to provide enhanced insurance coverage with reduced premiums for small exporters.
Eligibility
- Applicant must be a registered exporter holding a valid Importer Exporter Code (IEC)
- Registration with the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) and a Registration-cum-Membership Certificate (RCMC) are required
- Applicant should maintain a good credit history and reasonably strong financial position
- Special reduced-premium schemes exist for MSMEs and first-time exporters
