NIDHI-SSS, Seed Support System (via SMVDU Technology Business Incubation Centre)

Offered by SMVDU Technology Business Incubation Centre

Overview

NIDHI-SSS (Seed Support System) is a scheme under the National Initiative for Developing and Harnessing Innovations (NIDHI), run by the National Science and Technology Entrepreneurship Development Board (NSTEDB), Department of Science and Technology. At the SMVDU Technology Business Incubation Centre, it acts as a commercialization bridge, providing early-stage capital to help resident startups move beyond the prototype phase toward market launch, disbursed as soft loans, equity, or seed grants of up to 50 lakh rupees per startup.

Eligibility

  • Incubatee startup must be registered in India with a minimum of three months of residency at the incubator
  • Must be an Indian startup, not an Indian subsidiary of an MNC or foreign company
  • Indian promoters must hold at least 51% shareholding in the incubated startup

Funding Purpose

Seed funding of up to 50 lakh rupees per startup supports scaling activities such as product testing, certifications, and field trials, enabling regional ventures to achieve commercial viability and market readiness.

Application Process

Calls for application are made once a year, with the evaluation cycle typically starting in January. Applicants submit a detailed proposal outlining the startup's idea, project plan, budgetary requirements, and expected outcomes; the NIDHI-SSMC makes final decisions on shortlisted applicants, followed by a legal agreement with fund disbursement linked to milestone achievement.
