Overview
AIC IIIT Kottayam Foundation operates the Startup India Seed Fund Scheme (SISFS), a Government of India initiative to build a strong ecosystem for nurturing innovation and startups. The scheme's overall corpus is Rs 945 crore, distributed across 2021 to 2025, and individual startups can receive up to Rs 50 lakh through this incubator.
Eligibility
- Must be DPIIT-recognized and incorporated within two years
- Must demonstrate a business idea to develop a product or service with market fit, viable commercialization, and scope for scaling
- Must use technology in core operations
- Must not have received more than Rs 10 lakh in prior government support
- Must maintain at least 51% Indian ownership
- May receive funding only once under this scheme
Funding Purpose
Funding supports proof of concept, prototype development, product trials, market entry, and commercialization.
Application Process
Applications go through an open, transparent, and fair process via the Startup India portal (seedfund.startupindia.gov.in), where applicants can select up to three preferred incubators. Evaluation considers market need, technical feasibility, potential impact, novelty, team strength, fund utilization plans, and presentation quality.
