Overview

BEACON India (Building Ecosystem for Accelerating Contribution to NDC through Climate Innovation Incubation for India) is a planned climate-innovation incubation ecosystem run by TREC-STEP with Tata Capital, with SIDBI as the Green Climate Fund-accredited entity. It aims to nurture high-impact climate ventures, targeting a reduction of over 1.1 million tonnes of CO2 and benefiting around 2.9 million people. The program was approved by the Green Climate Fund Board on 29 October 2025 at GCF headquarters in Incheon, South Korea, with USD 25 million in GCF support, an additional USD 3 million grant, and roughly USD 47.6 million from Tata Capital, for a total project outlay of about USD 94 million. Coverage at the time of approval indicated the program was expected to launch in early 2026, though no exact launch date has been confirmed.
