National Bio Entrepreneurship Competition 2026

Overview

The National Bio Entrepreneurship Competition (NBEC) is a nationwide competition run by C-CAMP to attract, identify, and nurture bio-entrepreneurs working on novel, scalable business ideas with significant societal impact. Launched in 2017, it has identified over 130 promising entrepreneurs and is positioned as India's premier platform for science-driven biotechnology ventures.

Eligibility

  • Open to student teams, individual entrepreneurs, startups, and established companies across India
  • Ideas must have a substantial biotechnology foundation and demonstrate genuine business potential, not purely academic research

Funding Purpose

Winners compete for awards including cash prizes, investment opportunities, and one-on-one mentoring sessions with industry and investment experts.

Application Process

Applications are submitted through the NBEC Portal (nationalbioentrepreneurship.in); the 2026 cycle's applications close June 15, 2026 at 5:30 PM IST. The competition runs across four rounds: an external expert panel reviews proposals for originality, clarity, and scientific depth; regional rounds with online presentations select top ideas; a pre-final boot camp provides intensive mentoring and business plan presentations; and a grand finale pitch is held before the final jury.
