NIDHI-EIR (via Manipal University Technology Business Incubator)
Offered by Manipal University Technology Business Incubator
Overview
NIDHI-EIR (Entrepreneurs-in-Residence) is a DST-funded fellowship program, part of the NSTEDB's NIDHI initiative, hosted at Manipal University Technology Business Incubator (MUTBI). It is designed to inspire talented individuals to become entrepreneurs by minimizing the personal financial risk of leaving a job to pursue a startup. It provides a monthly fellowship ranging from Rs. 10,000 to Rs. 30,000 for a 12-month period, with possible extension up to 18 months, and total support capped at Rs. 3.6 lakh per participant.
Eligibility
- Minimum 4 years of formal full-time undergraduate/postgraduate education in science or engineering, or a 3-year degree/diploma plus 2 years of post-qualification work experience
- Must show genuine commitment to exploring a business idea
- Preference for first-generation entrepreneurs
- Must commit to working full-time on the venture
- Fellowship cannot overlap with other income sources or fellowships
Funding Purpose
The monthly fellowship is meant to offset the opportunity cost of leaving paid employment, giving the entrepreneur-in-residence a living stipend while they pursue a technology enterprise idea full-time, rather than funding the venture itself directly.
