Overview

A BIRAC grant-in-aid program providing financial assistance for up to 24 months to accelerate market launch and large-scale commercialization of BIRAC-supported or other nationally relevant biotech products and technologies at Technology Readiness Level 7 or above, ready for commercialization within 6 to 18 months. The program runs via periodic calls for proposals rather than a single continuous window; BIRAC announces when each call reopens, and calls have run in both 2024 and 2026.

Eligibility

  • Indian biotech startup or company incorporated within 10 years of the relevant call
  • At least 51% Indian shareholding
  • Product or technology at Technology Readiness Level 7 or above
  • Ready for commercialization within 6 to 18 months
