Overview
SPRINT (Strategic Program for Research Innovation and Next Gen Tech Commercialisation) is a research preneur incubation program run by iHub AWaDH, the IIT Ropar Technology and Innovation Foundation, under the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India, within the National Mission on Interdisciplinary Cyber Physical Systems. It is designed to take innovations from concept through validation to commercialization, supporting both individual researchers moving toward becoming founders and existing technology projects that need to be validated, enhanced, or commercialized.
Eligibility
- Technology focused innovations, with a deep tech orientation
- Patent or intellectual property held is preferred but not mandatory
- Work should align with Interdisciplinary Cyber Physical Systems focus areas
- Women founders are specifically encouraged to apply
- Individual applicants (not yet incorporated as a startup) are accepted
Funding Purpose
Support of up to 50 lakh rupees per startup is meant to fund two tracks, taking research ideas through to early stage startup formation, and validating, enhancing, or commercializing existing technology projects.
Application Process
Applicants register via a Google Form on a rolling basis, with specific SPRINT editions also run regionally and through open innovation challenges. Applications are screened on a metrics basis, followed by an internal pitch before the Incubator Seed Management Committee, then a Demo Day pitch to external evaluators including investors, VCs, and experts.
