Overview

The Startup India Seed Fund Scheme (SISFS) is a DPIIT-run Government of India program that provides financial support to startups for proof of concept, prototype development, product trials, market entry, and commercialization, with the goal of helping ventures mature enough to attract venture capital or bank financing. ASPIRE, based at the University of Hyderabad's School of Life Sciences in Gachibowli, Hyderabad, is one of the DPIIT-empanelled incubators through which founders can apply.

Eligibility

  • Registered with DPIIT and incorporated within 2 years of application
  • Viable business concept with commercial potential and scaling capability
  • Technology integrated into the core operations, business model, or methodology
  • At least 51% Indian ownership per the Companies Act, 2013
  • Received less than Rs 10 lakh from other Central or State Government schemes

Funding Purpose

Funds are given as a milestone-based grant of up to Rs 20 lakh for proof of concept and prototype work, and as convertible debt or debt-linked instruments of up to Rs 50 lakh for market entry and commercialization activities.

Application Process

DPIIT-recognized startups log in to the national portal at seedfund.startupindia.gov.in with their startup recognition credentials, apply fully online, and can select up to 3 preferred incubators such as ASPIRE.
