Overview
The Startup India Seed Fund Scheme (SISFS), as delivered through DTU Innovation and Incubation Foundation (DTU-IIF), is a national government program that helps early stage startups develop and commercialize their ideas through incubators. The scheme aims to support 3,600+ entrepreneurs across roughly 300 incubators nationally over four years.
Eligibility
- DPIIT recognized startup incorporated within 2 years of application
- Viable business idea with market fit and scalability potential
- Technology integrated into the core product, service, or business model
- Not received more than Rs. 10 lakhs from other Central or State Government schemes
- Minimum 51% Indian promoter ownership under the Companies Act 2013 and SEBI regulations
Funding Purpose
Grants of up to Rs. 20 lakhs fund proof of concept validation, prototype development, and product trials, disbursed in milestone based installments, while debt or convertible debentures of up to Rs. 50 lakhs fund market entry, commercialization, and scaling.
Application Process
Applicants access the Startup India portal using their DPIIT credentials and submit applications online, applying to up to 3 preferred incubators simultaneously. A selection committee evaluates applications within 45 days based on necessity of the idea, feasibility, impact, novelty, team strength, and fund utilization plan. Successful applicants sign a legal agreement before the first disbursement and must submit a final report and audited utilization certificate upon completion.
