Overview

The Startup India Seed Fund Scheme (SISFS) provides financial assistance to early-stage startups to help them advance from concept to commercialization, aiming to support an estimated 3,600 entrepreneurs through 300 incubators over four years nationally. The Foundation for Innovation and Technology Transfer (FITT) at IIT Delhi implements this government scheme as an empaneled incubator.

Eligibility

  • Startup must be DPIIT-recognized and incorporated within 2 years of the date of application
  • Business must involve technology in its core product/service, business model, or distribution model
  • Prior government support received must be capped at Rs. 10 lakhs
  • Minimum 51 percent Indian promoter shareholding is required
  • Business idea must demonstrate viable commercialization potential and scope for scaling

Funding Purpose

Grants of up to Rs. 20 lakhs (milestone-based) fund proof of concept, prototype development, or product trials. Debt or convertible debentures of up to Rs. 50 lakhs fund market entry, commercialization, or scaling activities. Funds cannot be used for creation of any facilities.

Application Process

Applications are made entirely online through the Startup India portal using startup recognition credentials, with no physical document submission. Applicants list three incubator preferences and are evaluated within 45 days based on feasibility, impact, novelty, team, and fund utilization plan.
