Overview
SBIRI provides grant-in-aid to Indian biotech companies, often paired with academic collaborators, for early stage, pre proof of concept R&D, via biannual call cycles.
Eligibility
- Indian company (incorporated under Companies Act 2013, LLP Act 2008, or as a joint venture) with minimum 51% shares held by Indian citizens
- Must have an in-house R&D facility or be incubated at a recognized facility
- Academic collaborators can be public/private universities, national research labs, or non-profit research institutions
Funding Purpose
Early-stage grant-in-aid support for biotech industry R&D, ₹576 crore committed across 337 projects to date.
Application Process
Apply via structured proforma submission during call windows (1 April to 15 May and 1 September to 15 October annually, plus additional need based calls).
