Overview
Genesis is a 12-month intensive program run by IKP Knowledge Park, a not-for-profit institution headquartered in Hyderabad with over two decades of experience supporting deep science infrastructure and a 130-plus startup portfolio. The program functions as a structured translation engine that converts deep science at Technology Readiness Level (TRL) 2 to 3 into investor-ready, regulatory-compliant ventures, delivering IP strategy, manufacturing and investment readiness, regulatory pathway clarity, and investor pitch refinement.
Eligibility
- Private Limited company status under India's Companies Act 2013 (OPCs and LLPs are ineligible)
- Minimum 51 percent Indian citizen shareholding
- Technology at TRL 2 or TRL 3 stage
- Laboratory-dependent, science-first intellectual property
Funding Purpose
Startups receive up to 30 lakhs per company in exchange for 2 to 3 percent equity as Compulsorily Convertible Preference Shares, released in a 70/25/5 percent schedule tied to program start, a mid-point gate, and completion, funding the translation of lab science into a manufacturable, investable, regulatory-compliant product.
Application Process
Applicants submit eligibility and founding team details, a description of the science and IP/regulatory status, and a 6 to 7 slide presentation covering scientific foundation, evidence, team, competitive landscape, five-year projections, and specific support needs. No formal business plan is required. Cohort 1 selects 4 to 5 startups.
