Overview
MeitY GENESIS EIR (Gen-Next Support for Innovative Startups, Entrepreneur in Residence) is an initiative of the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology aimed at strengthening the startup ecosystem in India's smaller cities by supporting early-stage and deep-tech ventures. AIC ISB, the incubation centre at the Indian School of Business's Mohali campus, is one of the empanelled GENESIS incubators delivering the program, providing incubation, mentorship, ecosystem access, and investor networking. Selected entrepreneurs receive a grant along with makerspace access and a dedicated anchor mentor while based at AIC ISB for the program duration.
Eligibility
- Indian citizen, an early-stage innovator or founder/co-founder of a startup no more than 2 years old
- Based in a Tier-II or Tier-III city
- Innovation at TRL-1 to TRL-4 stage (from ideation through a working prototype)
- Technology-led focus in electronics, IT, ICT, or DeepTech
- Must not have received prior GENESIS support or exceeded INR 10 lakh in government assistance for the same idea
- Must relocate to ISB Mohali for the duration of the program
Funding Purpose
The grant, up to INR 10 lakhs per entrepreneur, is meant to support development of the idea, proof of concept, prototypes, and minimum viable products (MVPs) in technology sectors. It is released in two 50 percent tranches, the first upon onboarding and documentation completion, the second upon milestone achievement and AIC ISB's recommendation.
Application Process
Applicants submit through the MeitY Startup Hub portal with a completed application form, selecting AIC ISB Association as their first preference, before September 3, 2026. AIC ISB then screens and shortlists applications, shortlisted startups pitch to an Evaluation Committee, MeitY Startup Hub approves final selections, results are released, onboarding and agreements are finalized, and fund disbursement follows.
