NIDHI Entrepreneur in Residence (via AIC ISB Association)

Overview

NIDHI-EIR (Entrepreneur in Residence) is an initiative of India's National Science and Technology Entrepreneurship Development Board (NSTEDB) under the Department of Science and Technology, designed to encourage individuals to pursue entrepreneurial ideas full time rather than take up conventional employment. AIC ISB at the Indian School of Business serves as the Program Execution Partner, providing mentorship, resources, and infrastructure support to participants.

Eligibility

  • Indian citizenship required
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Science or Engineering completed
  • Not currently enrolled in final-year studies
  • Able to commit full time, with no concurrent employment or business
  • Demonstrable capacity to build a scalable tech startup

Funding Purpose

Participants receive up to INR 3.6 lakhs as a subsistence grant, paid as a monthly fellowship of INR 10,000 to 30,000 over 12 to 18 months, meant to offset the opportunity cost of forgoing traditional employment so the entrepreneur can pursue a technology-based venture full time.

Application Process

Applicants submit a completed NIDHI-EIR application form along with a formal business plan and investment proposal. AIC ISB reviews eligibility, a selection committee evaluates qualified applicants, and winners are then granted fellowship support.
