NIDHI EIR (via GUSEC)

Offered by GUSEC

Overview

NIDHI EIR (Entrepreneur in Residence) is a program under India's NIDHI (National Initiative for Developing and Harnessing Innovations) scheme, run at Gujarat University Startup and Entrepreneurship Council (GUSEC). It is designed to inspire knowledge based, technology driven ideas and innovations into successful entrepreneurship by minimising the risk involved in pursuing a startup and partially offsetting the opportunity cost of a high paying job. Support runs for up to 12 months and combines a monthly stipend with mentorship, co-working space and FabLab access for product development, delivered through GUSEC as the host Technology Business Incubator.

Eligibility

  • Indian citizen with government approved proof of nationality
  • Minimum 4 years of full time undergraduate/postgraduate education in science or engineering, or a 3 year degree/diploma plus 2 years of work experience
  • Must commit full time to exploring the proposed business idea, with no other education program, paid work, or fellowship held concurrently
  • Cannot own more than 10% stake in another company
  • Must register with the Technology Business Incubator (GUSEC) for the entire support period

Funding Purpose

The stipend, ranging from Rs. 10,000 to Rs. 30,000 per month for up to 12 months, is meant to let the entrepreneur pursue their startup idea full time without needing outside income, paired with mentorship from successful entrepreneurs plus access to GUSEC's co-working space and FabLab for building the product.
