NIDHI-Prayas (via Venture Center)

Overview

NIDHI-PRAYAS (Promotion and Acceleration of Young and Aspiring technology entrepreneurs) is a Department of Science and Technology scheme under the National Initiative for Developing and Harnessing Innovations, delivered through incubators like Venture Center, aimed at closing the funding gap at the very early idea/proof-of-concept stage by supporting conversion of innovative ideas into working prototypes.

Eligibility

  • Individual innovators must be Indian citizens with valid proof of nationality, minimum 18 years of age
  • Startups must be incorporated in India with minimum 51% equity held by Indian citizens, not more than 7 years old, with annual turnover not exceeding Rs 25 lakh
  • Project must be a proof-of-concept grant for converting an idea into a physical product prototype based on technology and science
  • Prototype must be completable within 14 months
  • Priority technology areas include manufacturing, agriculture, healthcare, clean-tech, energy, water, and IoT

Funding Purpose

PRAYAS support is a grant-in-aid of up to Rs 10 lakh, specifically meant to fund prototype development, converting an idea-stage or proof-of-concept innovation into a physical, working prototype.
