GENESIS, Deep-tech Startup Support (via MeitY Startup Hub)

Overview

GENESIS (Gen-Next Support for Innovative Startups) is an umbrella scheme run by MeitY Startup Hub (MSH) with a budget of Rs. 490 crore over 5 years, aimed at building a strong pipeline of tech startups across India, including Tier-II and Tier-III cities. The Deep-Tech Startup Support component within GENESIS specifically funds startups working in deep-tech domains such as AI/ML, cybersecurity, IoT, blockchain, fintech, ed-tech, and health-tech. Unlike some other GENESIS components, this deep-tech track does not require matching investment from another investor.

Eligibility

  • Registered Indian entity (Private Limited Company) with at least 51 percent Indian ownership
  • Preference for startups registered in Tier-II or Tier-III cities
  • Must hold a valid DPIIT Startup recognition certificate
  • Must be working on a deep-tech product or software in domains like AI/ML, cybersecurity, IoT, blockchain, fintech, ed-tech, or health-tech

Funding Purpose

Funding under the Deep-Tech Startup Support component carries an upper ceiling of Rs. 1 crore per startup, provided without any matching fund requirement, intended to help deep-tech startups scale product development and commercialization efforts.
