GENESIS, Investment Support (via MeitY Startup Hub)

Overview

GENESIS (Gen-Next Support for Innovative Startups) is an umbrella scheme of the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), run through MeitY Startup Hub (MSH), with a total budget of Rs. 490 crore over 5 years. It is designed to discover, support, grow, and accelerate startups specifically in Tier-II and Tier-III cities of India, implemented through roughly 50 empanelled Implementing Agencies. The Investment Support component specifically offers private-sector matching funding of 1:1, averaging Rs. 40 lakh up to Rs. 50 lakh per startup.

Eligibility

  • Must be a beneficiary of MeitY schemes or registered with MeitY Startup Hub
  • Must be a DPIIT-registered startup
  • Shareholding by Indian promoters must be at least 51% at the time of application
  • Must have a full-time CEO
  • Must have market-ready products and be seeking funds for business development and commercialization

Funding Purpose

Under the Investment Support component, funding (averaging Rs. 40 to Rs. 50 lakh, matched 1:1 by private-sector investment) is meant to support startups that already have market-ready products and are seeking capital for business development and commercialization.

Application Process

Applicants apply on the MeitY Startup Hub portal (msh.meity.gov.in), selecting a preferred incubator as Preference 1, which is fixed once submitted. Applications are reviewed by a designated committee for eligibility, innovation potential, and fit, then allocated to a participating incubator.
