Overview

The Idea Grant is an early-stage funding scheme administered by Kerala Startup Mission (KSUM) from its Trivandrum office, designed to support innovative startups in the ideation, design, proof of concept, and early minimum viable prototype (MVP) stages.

Eligibility

  • Startup must be in the ideation, design, or proof of concept stage
  • Kerala-based innovators only
  • Must be building a technology-driven, innovative product
  • Company incorporation (Pvt Ltd, LLP, or OPC) is mandatory before fund disbursal
  • Applicants cannot reapply within 3 months of a previous application

Funding Purpose

Up to Rs 3 lakhs per startup funds product development, prototyping, testing, validation activities, technology development, MVP preparation, and expenses to move a concept toward market entry.

Application Process

Applicants submit an online application during an official call for applications; KSUM officials shortlist applications and notify candidates by email; shortlisted teams pitch their idea to an Expert Committee; the KSUM CEO/Chairman reviews recommendations for approval; approved applicants submit documentation including CA-certified certificates, incorporation documents, PAN, and bank details; an agreement is signed at KSUM offices; and funds are disbursed in milestone-based tranches, typically 50 percent upfront with the remainder released after a progress review.
