Overview
This is the Kerala Startup Mission (KSUM) administered channel for the Startup India Seed Fund Scheme (SISFS), a Government of India initiative that provides early-stage financial support to startups for proof of concept, prototype development, product trials, market entry, and commercialization. It offers grant support of up to Rs. 20 lakh for validation of proof of concept, prototype development, or product trials, plus investment support of up to Rs. 50 lakh for market entry, commercialization, or scaling up, via convertible debentures or debt.
Eligibility
- Must be a DPIIT-recognized startup incorporated within 2 years of application
- Business idea must show market fit, viable commercialization, and scope for scaling
- Technology must be central to the product, service, business model, or distribution
- Must not have received more than Rs. 10 lakh from other government schemes
- At least 51% shareholding must be held by Indian promoters
Funding Purpose
The grant component funds proof of concept validation, prototype development, and product trials, while the investment component funds market entry, commercialization, or scaling up.
Application Process
Startups apply online at the national portal seedfund.startupindia.gov.in. Kerala applicants go through a pre-evaluation call with KSUM representatives, initial pitching with the KSUM team, and a final pitch before the Incubator Seed Management Committee.
