Overview

The Startup India Seed Fund Scheme (SISFS) is a Government of India initiative delivering early-stage financial support to startups for proof of concept, prototype development, product trials, market entry, and commercialization. It is administered nationally through selected incubators, with Kerala Startup Mission (KSUM) managing applications for Kerala-based startups. It offers grant support of up to Rs. 20 lakh and investment support of up to Rs. 50 lakh through convertible debentures or debt.

Eligibility

  • Must be a DPIIT-recognized startup incorporated within 2 years of application
  • Business idea must demonstrate market fit, viable commercialization, and scope for scaling
  • Technology must be central to the product, service, business model, or distribution
  • Must not have received more than Rs. 10 lakh from other government schemes
  • At least 51% shareholding must be held by Indian promoters

Funding Purpose

The grant portion funds proof of concept validation, prototype development, and product trials. The investment portion funds market entry, commercialization, or scaling up.

Application Process

Applications are submitted online at seedfund.startupindia.gov.in. Kerala applicants have a pre-evaluation call with KSUM representatives, initial pitching with the KSUM team, and a final pitch before the Incubator Seed Management Committee.
