Overview

NIDHI-PRAYAS (National Initiative for Developing and Harnessing Innovation, Promoting and Accelerating Young and Aspiring innovators and startups) is a grant program under India's NIDHI initiative that helps individual innovators, teams, and very early startups convert an idea into a working physical prototype. Amrita Technology Business Incubator is an authorized PRAYAS Centre delivering the scheme locally, offering grants of up to Rs 10 lakh.

Eligibility

  • Individual innovators must be Indian citizens at least 18 years of age with a government-approved proof of nationality
  • Teams of innovators must designate a lead applicant, who applies and receives funds on the team's behalf
  • Existing startups must be less than 2 years old, seeking to develop a prototype for a new product not previously supported under a similar scheme, with no significant revenue
  • Project must be for converting an idea into a prototype for a physical product; pure software, e-commerce, service, or app-based solutions are not supported

Funding Purpose

The grant, up to Rs 10 lakh, is specifically for building an idea into a working prototype of a physical product, not for software, e-commerce, service, or app-based projects.

Applicants apply through Amrita TBI's dedicated link on its apply page. Evaluation is based on innovation, technical feasibility, the prototype development plan, and market potential.
